The Hollywood quintet are back... And their frontman has a fully-functioning face!
Hello Andy. Looking forward to coming back?
"It's the biggest UK tour we've ever done! We're so excited, we've had such a great relationship with the UK since the beginning. It's sort of our home away from home."
What can we expect from the show itself?
"In terms of stage show and production, we're bringing more than we've ever brought to the UK. The last time we played London, I had a broken nose, so you can expect me to have a fully-functioning face! That's something different to look out for."
Has breaking your nose made you more cautious while you're onstage?
"I've broken four ribs, fractured two kneecaps, broke a toe, a finger and dislocated an arm onstage, but none of these things have made me any more cautious. We just played the Soundwave festival in Australia and I was climbing up the scaffolding on the side of the stage every day. The ribs were pretty bad, because if I moved too much it could have pierced my lung. You never really get over that injury either; there are day when I wake up feeling like an old man, but whatever. On with the show!"
You were woken up by a fire in your hotel room in Australia. What happened there?
"I heard someone set their curtains on fire. I woke up to a smoke-filled room and the fire alarm was going off really loud. I opened the door to find people running around panicking. I went back into my room, packed up everything I owned and ran outside wearing nothing but my boxwers and my leather jacket (laughs)."
A strong look. How do you chill out on the road?
"On tour, I'm more the guy who tries to plot our next move (musically). I sit in the hotel room, writing our drawing, and coming up with image concepts. Other than that, I enjoy watching movies. I think my way (of chilling out) is probably pretty boring, but I try my best to be as creative as I can. We'll be making our next record in April, so this will be our last tour for (2011's) Set The World On Fire."
